Transform Lives in Muchila: Support Essential Maternal and Oral Health Care Services

MUCHILA, ZAMBIA
The Muchila Access Project (MAP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to improving access to health care services, with a focus on maternal and oral health. We aim to establish and support a rural clinic for nearly 43,000 residents of Muchila, a remote and geographically isolated community in Southern Africa. Our work is driven by the shared priorities of the village leadership and its residents.

We Did It!
Thanks to your generous support, along with significant investments from Project C.U.R.E and Rotary, we have successfully completed the clinic building and equipped the Muchila Rural Clinic with essential medical equipment
Since 2017, MAP has worked to improve the Muchila Health Clinic, which before our efforts, was a simple cinder block building with no electricity or running water. Thanks to all of you, we have improved the building infrastructure, installed a borehole and storage tank for clean water, interior plumbing, sinks in each treatment room, showers and water closets for patients and staff, solar to power lights, and locked storage for supplies.
We are extremely grateful to Project C.U.R.E and the Burnt Hills Ballston Lake Rotary Club who helped us get over the finish line by equipping the clinic with critical medical and dental supplies and equipment.
Your contributions and any additional gifts are a true investment in the health of this community. With the high rate of infant and maternal mortality and dental problems, it is not an overstatement to say you are helping to save and improve lives.

Current Efforts
In addition to continued support of the Muchila Health Clinic, we are now partnering with the Kasenga Girls Secondary School in the Namwala District (The Muchila Clinic is in the same district).
We recently addressed the challenges posed by unreliable hydropower due to drought. In response, we have procured and installed a large solar-powered pump and storage container.
Our efforts also include providing essential classroom infrastructure and desks, as well as facilitating a bi-directional educational exchange between students at the Kasenga School a school in the U.S.
Next, we aim to establish internet connectivity to further enhance learning opportunities for the students.
